Recipe: Mindful Mint Matcha Latte

Creamy mint matcha latte made with ceremonial grade matcha and fresh mint

Some drinks become more than just a menu item. They become a memory.

Our Mindful Mint Latte is one of those recipes.

Originally created at our Spring & Lafayette pop-up café, this soothing minty matcha quickly became a customer favorite. With its creamy texture and refreshing herbal lift, it was the kind of drink people came back for again and again. When we brought it back as a limited winter special this year, our OG community immediately recognized it, and the excitement was real.

While the Mindful Mint Latte will not be a permanent menu item for now, we wanted to share the recipe so you can recreate this nostalgic Matchaful favorite at home whenever the craving strikes.

Creamy, soothing, and refreshingly minty, it is the perfect cool-weather matcha ritual.

INGREDIENTS

For the matcha:

  • 1.5 tsp Ceremonial Hikari Matcha
  • 8 oz plant milk of choice
  • 15 drops peppermint extract
  • 5 drops skullcap extract (optional)
  • 0.25 tsp coconut butter
  • 1 Tbsp maple syrup

STEPS

  1. Combine plant milk, peppermint extract, skullcap extract, coconut butter, and maple syrup in a saucepan. Warm over medium heat while whisking constantly.
  2. Make matcha shot: sift the Ceremonial Hikari Matcha and add into a whisking bowl. Add 2 oz of 180º water.  With a bamboo whisk, briskly create “W” or “M” shape motions until frothy.
  3. Add matcha shot to the bottom of a hot cup, and pour milk mixture over matcha shot.

We recommend using our Ceremonial Hikari Matcha to make the Mindful Mint Matcha Latte at home. It’s the matcha our cafés use for all lattes and creative drinks. We love Hikari for this recipe because its delicate but robust flavor profile pairs perfectly with the intensity of peppermint. For an enhanced mood-boosting effect, you can also add skullcap extract.
