Recipe: Rose Cardamom Latte

At-home recipe alert: This Valentine’s Day, try making this rose cardamom matcha latte. It was a huge hit in our cafés, and while it’s no longer on the menu, we’re leaking the recipe to bring the café magic straight to your kitchen.

A dreamy blend of floral, spiced, and subtly sweet notes, this perfectly pink drink is love in a cup. Serve it hot for cozy mornings or iced for a refreshing treat. Bonus points if you surprise your someone with a bedside delivery.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 teaspoon of Matchaful Hikari or Kiwami Matcha
  • 8 ounces of a plant-based milk of your choice
  • 1/2 teaspoon of rose water and/or 1/4 teaspoon rose powder
  • 1 tablespoon of maple syrup
  • A pinch of cardamom powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon of tocos (optional for extra creaminess)
  • 1/4 teaspoon of beet juice powder (optional for color)

RECIPE:

  1.  Make matcha shot: sift the matcha and add into a whisking bowl. Add 2 oz of 180º water.  With a bamboo whisk, briskly create “W” or “M” shape motions until frothy.
  2. For a hot latte, add the remaining ingredients to a saucepan or pot until warm. Mix or froth until homogeneous. Add matcha shot to the bottom of a hot cup, and pour steamed milk mixture over matcha shot.
  3. For a cold latte, add the remaining ingredients to a shaker with ice and shake until well mixed. Pour milk mixture into an iced cup, and add matcha shot on top.
